Hey! Guess what? My first ever tag. The Bookish Tag (how fitting). Thank you Faith from Chosen Vessels for tagging me. And just a side note. There is a very annoying fly sitting on my head. Yes. Literally sitting on my head.
Without farther ado:
The Bookish Tag Rules:
~You must be honest.
~You must answer all the questions.
~You must tag at least 4 other people.
1 ~ What book has been on your shelf the longest?
An Alpha and Omega version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. My friend was taking Alpha and Omega courses and let me read the book. I loved it so much that she gave it to me for my birthday.
2 ~ What is your current read, last read, and next read?
My current read is Where Dandelions Grow by Lydia Howe. I’m not a really big online reader, and I don’t have a Kindle or a Nook, so I literally have to read it off of a PDF, but so far it’s been really fun. You can read about it here.
My last read was the Bible but I’m not really sure if that counts. I’m working on a WIP so I haven’t actually been reading in my free time, but writing.
My next read will probably be something really fun. I honestly have no idea. My reads are always spur of the moment, got it at the library, but I’m thinking to get back into Jenny Jones.
3 ~ What book did everyone like, but you hated?
Oh boy. I don’t normally read books that I hate. I don’t really like The Giver I guess? Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the story! But I’ve been ruined because I saw the movie before I even knew the book existed (#homeschooler) so the book is a little odd for me now.
If you haven’t seen The Giver with Jeff Bridges I totally recommend it. A very good movie.
4 ~ What book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t?
Well, let’s see. Oh, I know now. Can’t Let You Go by Jenny B. Jones. It’s an Adult book, and even though it’s a sequel to the Katie Parker Productions Series, I won’t get around to reading it for a long time… but it’s on my list…
5 ~ What book are you saving for retirement?
Oh goodness. Maybe someday I’ll get around to finishing Mysterious Island. I’ve seen the movie and listened to half the audio book and even written a BTT on it. And I still haven’t gotten all the way through. Maybe when I retire.
6 ~ Last Page: read it first, or wait ’till the end?
If I know I can finish the book I wait ’till the end… Most of the time. If someone is dying during the book, I’ll peak to see if their name is still alive, but I don’t read the end first. Only in very special cases when I’m at the book store, and it’s not good enough to buy, but I have to head home, and jump to the end and read that. But I never read it first. 0.o
7 ~ Acknowledgement: waste of paper and ink, or interesting aside?
If I have the book as my own I enjoy reading the Acknowledgment, but I always skip it if I’m reading the book the first time.
8 ~ Which book character would you switch places with?
Um. If it was a switch forever, no one, but if it was like my BTT’s, where I can get in, live there, and then come back I’d probably want to be a lot of people! B.R.B. for one, Kara from Starring Me by Krista McGee and maybe Jamie from Down the Yukon by William Hobbs.
9 ~ Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life? (Place, time, person?)
I’d say I get that more from my journals because I don’t actually have a lot of books. I read a crazy amount, but mostly I get those books from the Library. I don’t have space to keep all the books I love! One day…
10 ~ Name a book that you acquired in an interesting way.
I got the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan on a whim when my friend suggested it. I normally don’t buy books unless I’ve read and loved them, so this was a new thing for me, to buy a book I haven’t read.
11 ~ Have you ever given a book away for a special reason to a special person?
Yes. I gave away several copies of the book The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer to different people. This book is very special. It changed my life, and I got it from a friend, so I wanted to offer that sort of influence on the lives of others. I highly recommend this book if you have not read it.
12 ~ Which book has been with you most places?
My Bible for sure. And all my journals (Do journals count as books?).
13 ~ Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad later?
#homeschooled again. I only had one required reading in my High School, which was an elective that I chose, which was the Pilgrims Progress. It was epic and I did not hate it.
14 ~ Used or brand new?
Brand new. I love that smell, and I can leave my own wrinkles on it. 🙂
15 ~ Have you read any Dan Brown books?
Nope.
16 ~ Have you ever seen a movie you liked more than the book?
The Giver.
17 ~ Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks included?
Almanzo Wilder’s book in the Laura Ingalls series. All their meals were so.. yummy…
18 ~ Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?
My mom, and my friends Ethan and Tanya (The real ones. Names are different)
19 ~ Is there a book out of your comfort zone (e.g., outside your usual reading genre) that you ended up loving?
Yes. Summer by Summer by Heather Burch. I do not recommend you read this book if you are under 16 years old, but I did end up loving it. And also I don’t really like reading Sci-Fi, but I wrote half a Sci-fi novel *blinks and wonders where that came from*
That was fun Faith! Thank you!
